Frequently Asked Questions
How can I register my child?
We will have sign-up tables at the field and online registration available on the ALCF website. .
If registration closes, can my child still join a team?
After registration closes, we will start a waiting list. Using that list, we will start placing players on teams that are in need of players. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, please send the following information to Emanuel at eswan@alcf.net:
Player's name
Parent's name and phone number
Player's current grade and age
Player's gender (we can't always tell by the name).
Player Certification: a parent or guardian must sign the medical release form verifying student’s age, current address and medical history. This must be turned in to receive clearance to participate.
What are your player participation policies?
Many of our players are new, first-time participants in an organized sport league. All players are required to start on offense or defense and play a minimum of half the game.
How are teams formed?
All players must attend the scheduled evaluation/training camp, since we do not allow pre-formed teams; evaluations become very critical to the formation of equally competitive teams. Failure to attend the evaluation training camp may delay us from placing your child on a team.
What is the time commitment?
Teams will conduct practices 1 hour before their scheduled game. Games are played on Saturday mornings and are usually just 1hour long. Therefore the normal time commitment for participants is 2 hrs per Saturday. Games are scheduled from 9am up to 12noon.
How many games are included in the season?
There will be a total of 8-10 games. All of the games will be played on Saturdays.
Where will the games be played?
All games will be played at Fairwood Park in Sunnyvale, CA. right of hwy 101 and Lawrence Exp.
How many practices are included in the season?
NO practices during the week. Scheduled practices take place 1 hour before each scheduled game. See schedule for more specific information.
My child cannot make it to the evaluation/training day. What should we do?
It is important that you try your best to make it to evaluation day. If there is absolutely no way possible, please email Emanuel at eswan@alcf.net for additional information on what to do.
What are the facilities like?
All games will be played on manicured sport fields sized for the individual leagues. All games will be played at 1255 Fairwood Park, Sunnyvale CA.
Are league standings kept?
Yes. We are looking to post the standing online for students and families to review.
What about costs?
Answer: Registration fees are $40 for the first child, and $30 for each additional child for families with more than one child registering. These fees do not constitute payment for a league, but rather offset the expenses of equipment, supplies and facility usage fee. Registered players are given a t-shirt, sport bag & bible. Players will need to purchase their own sweats, cleats, and socks. However we will provide jersey and shorts so students can be properly dressed and allowed to play.
I don't want to coach but would like to help. Do you need other types of volunteers?
Yes! Our league only runs because of those who volunteer to help make it happen. If you are interested in helping, we can find a place that is right for you. Please contact Emanuel, Youth Outreach Director, at eswan@alcf.net.
Do you still need coaches?
Yes, we will always need coaches, as well as referees and additional volunteers. Please contact the Youth Outreach Director, by email at eswan@alcf.net or call 650 625-1500 ext 185
What is required to coach?
All coaches are required to complete a comprehensive certification process which includes a criminal background check. All Coaches and referees are also required to attend our schedule mandatory coaches meetings at the beginning of each season.
Many want to know why we place a great emphasis on training Christian adults to serve as coaches. Inspire U sports ministry is all about youth, but coaches’ make the positive difference. We truly want our coaches to be difference-makers as they seek to inspire our young people to strive for success on and off the field. Therefore to that end, we will provide training to help the coaches be the best they can be. Most of our coaches are parents who understand the importance of nurturing, training and more importantly the role of Godly fathering. If you are looking for a way to make a positive impact on young lives and grow as an individual we encourage you to volunteer as a coach and together we will succeed in training the next generation.
I heard something about devotions. What is that about?
Answer: Each week coaches will lead their team through small group devotion prior to each game. It is required of each player to return with their completed lesson the following week prepared for team discussion during devotion time. It is our hope that players will share these lessons with their parents and families.
I would like to serve in this ministry. Do I need experience?
Answer: NO… However you will need a coachable spirit, a passionate heart for youth, and a sincere relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. If you desire to have fun as well as Inspire young people, please email the Youth Outreach Director at eswan@alcf.net
